In this guide we show you how to make the size of text on the internet bigger. The default size of text on web pages can sometimes be too small. It is very easy to quickly decrease or increase the size of text on a web page.

Instructions to make the size of text on the internet bigger

1. Go to your browser (Chrome, Internet Explorer, Edge)
2. Press and hold Ctrl and then press the + symbol to increase the size
3. Press and hold Ctrl and then press the – symbol to decrease the size
4. To reset to default. Press and hold Ctrl and then press 0 (zero)

The above method shows you how to zoom into the page. Each press of the + or – symbol will step the size up or down. This can be good for increasing the size of text on the page, but it also increases/decreases everything else on the page including images.

This may be fine but if you just want to increase the font size on the internet and use the Chrome browser you are in luck. Google Chrome lets you adjust the size of the font. This increase in font size works on lots but not all web pages.

How to make the size of text on the internet bigger – Google Chrome

1. Open Google Chrome
2. In the top right corner of the browser, there are 3 vertical dots as shown below 
3. Click the horizontal dots to open the menu
4. Select Settings
5. The settings menu will open. Scroll down to Appearance
6. There is an option for Font size, next to it you will see Medium (recommended)
7. If you click the word Medium or the arrow next to it you will be able to change the font size of google search results and web pages.

How to change the Zoom size in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft edge does not allow you to just adjust the font size, or if it does we have been unable to find the setting. However, you can select a zoom size which is the same as pressing Ctrl and + or -. It just means you don’t have to manually do it each time.

1. Open Microsoft Edge
2. In the top right corner of the browser, there are 3 horizontal dots as shown below 
3. Click the horizontal dots to open the menu
4. Within the menu, you will see the word Zoom
5. You can increase the page size with + symbol and decrease the page size with – symbol

Please note that increasing the viewing size of text on the screen does not increase the print size. The print will remain at its original size. If you need to adjust the size of printable text you should adjust this in the print settings.
