How to turn on godmode

Godmode is one of the many hidden features in Windows. In this guide we will show you how to turn on godmode. We all love the glossy magazine-style operating system that is Windows and lots of our guides here at Techsnail show our readers the most logical way to get to a setting but what if there was an easier way. What if there was a godmode?

How to turn on godmode

Godmode or rather enabling it is a must for everyone who likes to tweak Windows. It groups together lots of useful tools, actions, commands, settings, etc. and puts them all in one organized folder called godmode on your desktop. Great!

How to turn on godmode

  1. Right-click an empty area on the desktop
  2. Select New
  3. Select Folder
  4. Name the folder GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
  5. Windows will create the folder
  6. Open the folder.

Now when you open the folder you will be presented with lots of useful tools, actions, commands, and settings.

This folder used to be called Godmode. However, since the last Windows update it no longer has a name. If you would like to give it a name you will have to create a shortcut to it.

Turning on godmode did not work

  • Check that you have administrative or power user privileges.
  • Try copy and pasting the name rather than typing it. To do this highlight the black text in step 4. Then press Ctrl + C to copy and Ctrl + V to paste.
  • If the folder still displays as a new folder rather than godmode then rename it. To do this simply right-click and select rename.

We would like to stress that playing with settings on your computer can have consequences. Please be careful and always have a backup of the files and folders which are important to you.
