- Go to the desktop (Shortcut is to press the Windows key and D together)
- Right-click any blank area of the desktop
- Select Personalize from the menu
- Select the Lock screen tab on the left
- Under the image of the lock screen, you will see the word Background
- Below that is a drop-down menu with the words Windows Spotlight, Picture, or Slideshow.
- Select Picture
- Below you will see an option to select the picture you want to be the desktop background.
- If the picture you want is there simply select it, otherwise select Browse and navigate to the picture location.
- Once selected you can change the way the picture appears on the desktop in the next dropdown list. Fill will select a single image for the entire desktop.
How to change the lock screen picture to a slideshow in Windows 10
There are also options to have a slideshow of pictures. To do this you will first need to create a folder of the images you wish to use in the slideshow. Then follow the steps below to change the lock screen picture to a slideshow.
- Go to the desktop (Shortcut is to press the Windows key and D together)
- Right-click any blank area of the desktop
- Select Personalize from the menu
- Select the Lock screen tab on the left
- Under the image of the lock screen, you will see the word Background
- Below that is a drop-down menu with the words Windows Spotlight, Picture, or Slideshow.
- Select Slideshow
- Under the section Choose albums for your slideshow you will need to click Add a folder
- You will need to navigate to the location of the folder containing your chosen lock screen images.
- Click the button Choose this folder to select it.
- There are further options if you click the Advanced slideshow settings
- These options include the ability to only use images that fill the entire screen and options regarding turning the screen off.
- Once you have decided close the window.
